Abstract/
Redesign Spacesaver's high-density storage products to be appealing, so they don't have to be hidden in basements.
Challenge/
Spacesaver had an opportunity to install products in the San Francisco library that were required
to be installed out in the open as part of the office plan. The existing product was not user friendly
and aesthetically acceptable to be considered for this application. DCI was employed to meet with architects
and interior designers to come up with an aesthetically pleasing and easy-to-use product.
Solution/
DCI provided an appearance upgrade that transposed the appearance to fit a host of contemporary interiors.
The new look and ease of use allowed the product to be used in ways that the previous product could not.
The DCI solution for Spacesaver made it possible to integrate high-density storage into the floorplans of
companies without having to worry about hiding it. DCI provided multiple appearance options to fit a wide
variety of interior aesthetics from law offices to medical records departments.
Results/
DCI used a close relationship with local interior designers and architects to identify the best ideas and
helped select the final solutions. The use of actual purchasers of the product allowed DCI to pre-test and
win the design community's acceptance before implementing the design.
