Abstract/
Design all internal parts for a line of Oster blenders so that parts are interchangeable between models. Design an aesthetically pleasing user interface for the blenders.
Challenge/
Reduce Oster's production costs, help Oster consolidate their hardware so
that they weren't using multiple parts in multiple blenders.
Oster was working on a very tight schedule (7 months).
Solution/
Design Concepts designed a new motor that fit into all pre-existing Oster blenders. DCI also
created a very nice user interface for the blenders.
Results/
Oster was able to increase production of their blenders dramatically because
of the decrease of different parts needed. All 6 of their assembly lines were
more productive, while their costs went down since they only had to manufacture
one motor for all blenders now. Oster was able to meet the high demands for their
blenders because of this increased productivity.
