Small, beautiful and powerful

Design Concepts helped FitLinxx, a leading developer of activity monitors and health tracking products, make its first direct-to-consumer product both wearable and fashionable.

The AmpStrip™ is the first heart rate and activity monitor that is accurate, smart and comfortable enough to wear 24/7.

Approximately the size of a Band-Aid, the AmpStrip is attached to the torso for the most accurate heart rate readings. The open elliptical strip features a minimalistic, sporty design with a ridged texture that speaks to durability. Incredibly thin, less than a quarter-inch including adhesive, the AmpStrip is filled with sensors that continuously capture heart rate plus other important metrics like rest and recovery. It’s stylish enough to expose during a workout and thin enough to wear discreetly under clothes.

“In creating the AmpStrip, we addressed a number of pain points with heart rate and activity monitors," said Dave Monahan, President and CEO of FitLinxx. "The ability to comfortably and accurately track heart rate 24/7 was a primary goal but we also knew that many people simply don’t like the look of current wearables. While the AmpStrip will often be worn under clothes, we understood that athletes want a product that’s beautiful as well as small and accurate. When Design Concepts showed us their initial ideas, we were instantly taken by the elliptical design and knew we had a winner right away."

The AmpStrip is a 2015 CES Innovation Honoree in the wearables category. It is the winner of Endgadget's Best of CES 2015 Award in the Startup category. It also received a 2015 Gold Spark Award for product design.
