Dan Sarbacker

Title
Design Strategist
Present
It’s my business to know a little bit about everything. I keep an ear to the ground because one really can not anticipate when new trends will force unlikely elements to collide in fresh and exciting ways. My role is all about exploring those collisions, then challenging those around me to think in new ways while I constantly keep a vision for grounding those ideas in profitable avenues for my clients.
Past
University of Wisconsin-Madison, Wisconsin School of Business, MBA in Entrepreneurial Management
Oculus, Inc., full-service Architecture, Project Manager
Baker Pool & Spa, design/build high-end residential poolscape, Project Manager
Washington University in St. Louis, BA Architecture
Passion
New. Product. Development. But I like to be comprehensive about it. My excitement grows throughout the process of market research, innovation, branding and marketing, commercialization and eventually product launch.
Play
Exercising my brain and body. The former could be a good jigsaw or crossword puzzle; the latter, at present, is captaining the US Aussie Rules Football team.
What is your first memory of design thinking?
Dad built a deck on the house when I was very young. There were no “scraps” or “off-cuts," only limitless possibilities, the discovery of which lasted throughout my childhood.
