Title
Senior Industrial Designer
Present
As I designer at a consulting firm, I am responsible for the design development of varying products including medical, sporting goods (both hard and soft-sided), consumer electronics, and general consumer products. The development of these products covers the entire range of the design process, from intense concept development to final CAID data. I am also the lead in creating a competitive advantage in the products we design by using color and trend forecasting.
Past
My entire design career has been dedicated to product design. I have worked both in the corporate world as well as the consulting world. I spent some time as a visiting lecturer at North Carolina State University, where I taught a curriculum that had an emphasis on concept sketch development, traditional rendering mediums, and presentation techniques.
Passion
I am driven most by the people who I am surrounded by. My family, my coworkers, and friends from past and present all drive me to excel to the best of my abilities, and to learn from their successes.
Play
Marvel at my children, road and mountain biking, music, and travel.
What is your first memory of design thinking?
4 yrs old with nothing to do at my great grandmother’s home. She had some lined paper, and I had recently been investigating the old microscope in the garage. I challenged myself to create a “working” paper model of the same microscope I had seen. My memory on the specific outcome is fuzzy, but I do remember the scope piece moving up and down in it’s chamber. I was very proud of my creation.
