What is your first memory of design thinking?
I was 11 years old. My neighbor gave me a mini bike frame that was collecting dust in his garage. I immediately had a vision of speed and transportation freedom. I custom designed and built every working part of my dream machine. I custom crafted the seat, headlight lights, tail lights, axels and wheel spacers. I powered it with an old Briggs lawnmower engine running straight pipes and the brakes were a pair of high friction Keds. The official top speed (courtesy of the local police) was 40 mph. I also added rear view mirrors on the handle bars after verifying the speed. I wish I still had it in my garage, I would take it for a spin around the block.
