UW Space Labs SALT Telescope

Design Concepts worked with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Space Astronomy Laboratory (UW-SAL) to design and document the Imaging Spectrograph for the Prime Focus Instrument Package of the South African Large Telescope (SALT). Design Concepts worked closely with UW-SAL to ensure the University met their timeline obligations for deliverables. The team helped UW-SAL with the selection of component fabrication methods, fabrication-drive design refinements and the creation of fully dimensioned and toleranced fabrication drawings.

UW-SAL was able to uphold its SALT project responsibilities, both schedule and budget, by effectively utilizing Design Concepts' instrumentation design engineering and SDRC-IDEAS expertise to complement their own astronomy instrumentation abilities.
