U-line Wine Storage Drawer

U-line, makers of high-quality under-counter appliances, enlisted Design Concepts to create a wine storage drawer that improves the presentation of wine bottles while maintaining temperature control and capacity of the drawers.

Designers created a multi-tiered drawer system that creates a cascade effect when the drawers are opened and eliminates shifting and burying of drawer contents. The cascading system presents the wine bottles to the user with labels clearly visible – an important consideration for wine collectors – and gives full access to all bottles. A side access wine caddy can be removed and transported to a table or countertop. A TouchSensor™ digital display allows the user to control the temperature by lightly touching the front of the glass drawer, eliminating the need to open the refrigerator and let in warm air.

U-Line introduced the first-ever wine storage drawers at the 2004 Kitchen and Bath Show. U-Line is the first undercounter appliance manufacturer to use TouchSensor™ technology, and the wine storage drawers are the first appliance to utilize TouchSensor™ on a thermal pane application.
