Sologear FlameDisk™ Grill

Sologear, makers of easy-to-use, eco-friendly grilling solutions, approached Design Concepts to develop visual concepts for a portable, durable grill designed to be used with Sologear’s FlameDisk™. FlameDisk™ is a safe and convenient ethanol-based charcoal-alternative for tailgating, camping picnics or at-home grilling. While FlameDisk™ can be used with any grill, Sologear was expanding their product offerings and targeting a new market of individuals – people who don’t own a grill.

Twenty-four total concepts were created for a lightweight, stable grill that assembles in seconds. A industrial designer of Design Concepts' ideated in 3-D using Computer Aided Industrial Design (CAID) to envision the grill’s design, assembly and packaging.

The portable grill rests on sturdy metal legs while the FlameDisk™ fits securely in an opening at the bottom of the grill. The wire rack offers 89 square inches of grilling space. The corners of the triangular shaped rack provide cooler grilling areas with more intense heat at the center. Using a slide lever, the FlameDisk™ can be easily adjusted in height to bring the heat source closer to the grilling surface for searing or farther away for slow cooking. The three simple pieces of the grill conveniently nest inside the products’ packaging. Together, the grill and disk offer an integrated, inexpensive grilling system.
