The Vollrath Company, setting the standard in commercial cookware solutions, enlisted Design Concepts to develop a self-service buffet with a new, contemporary look to improve the way food service venues do business.
Design Concepts’ human factors team conducted extensive user research, observing customers and interviewing food service staff, in a variety of venues from restaurants to luxury stadium sky boxes. Armed with essential user-information, hand renderings and Alias surface modeling gave shape to key concepts. The Design Concepts team developed a solution unlike anything the industry had seen before.
FoodFrames™ is a customizable, easy-to-assemble solution to make food more appealing to customers and increase sales. The design overcomes space limitations and a time-worn appearance of traditional systems. The modular buffet system includes interlocking trays and pans which solve the challenge of limited counter space while creating a clean, contemporary buffet display. The easy-to-assemble system can have a vertical or horizontal orientation, breaking up monotony of traditional buffets.
FoodFrames™ was awarded the 2005 Editors' Choice award from the International Hotel/Motel and Restaurant Show (IH/M&RS), showcasing the best new products of the year.
