AmiVerhalen selected as a judge for the Housewares Design Awards.
Ami Verhalen, Design Concepts’ director of industrial design, was selected as a judge for the Fifth Annual Housewares Design Awards, presented by HomeWorld Business with the educational support of the International Housewares Association (IHA). Judging took place November 14th in Chicago, IL

Each year, Housewares Design Awards nominees are chosen based on a design believed to differentiate a product with unique appearance and/or function. The judges considered appropriate aesthetics, innovative materials and technology, user benefits and market response.

Ami, and 11 other leaders in industrial design also judging the products, selected five finalists and “Best in Category” winners in each of 13 categories. The categories include: Floor Care Electrics; Home Environment Electrics; Personal Care, Health Care & Garment Care; Cooking Electrics; Food Preparation Electrics; Furniture; Lighting, Home Décor & Outdoor Living; Cookware & Bakeware; Countertop Kitchenware & Barware; Kitchen Hand Tools; Cutlery; Tabletop; and Home Organization, Laundry Care & Non-Electric Cleaning Products.

“The Housewares Design Awards program, now in its fifth successful year, has become a key platform for recognizing the most innovative designs and designers in the housewares industry,” said Peter Giannetti, editor-in-chief of HomeWorld Business. “The growing number of entries and increasing participation by industry organizations in this event attests to the universal goal within the housewares industry to cultivate and celebrate product innovation. There will be more exciting developments to further widen the national exposure of this awards program and of great housewares design.”

The awards and “Best in Category” selections will be presented February 6, 2008, at the Marriott Marquis overlooking Times Square. Finalists will be featured in a special HomeWorld Business publication.
