William Lindeman 1956-2007.
On May 19, 2007, the Design Concepts family lost a dear friend and colleague, William Lindeman. For more than a decade, William led the design staff to award-winning excellence with solutions that reached beyond the ordinary and created the truly remarkable. His creative insights and cutting-edge designs have changed the way we look at everything from medical devices to football helmets.
And while his business card read “director of industrial design and principal,” he was so much more to those of us who played and worked with him. He was passionate about life, living with endless optimism and joy. He had a deep commitment to those he loved and to living every moment to its fullest. He challenged us to live a little bigger, share a little more, and add a little whimsy to our lives. And while facing cancer throughout the past year, William truly inspired us all with his grace and his courage.
Dave Franchino, president of Design Concepts, shared his thoughts at the loss of a remarkable man.
This past weekend my friend, mentor and business partner, William Lindeman, lost his battle with cancer. I know many of you within the design community knew William – those of you who met him wouldn’t be likely to forget him. He was a big man with big ideas, big passion and a big heart. Yet, for such a big man he had an amazingly gentle presence and was truly one of the kindest, most decent individuals I’ve ever met.
The design community has lost a tremendously gifted and visionary designer, our firm has lost a partner and leader, and many of us have lost a true friend.
But while I’m sad, I am incredibly grateful for the blessing of having been able to know and learn from this fine man and call him my friend. I’d ask you to keep William’s family and his wife Cathy in your thoughts and prayers.
