Design Concepts to exhibit at Design MMoCA

So what would a "Standard" gas station look like in 1960s Wisconsin? Come to Design MMoCA, a one-of-a kind design showcase at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA), and find out.

Design Concepts will be one of several design-based Madison-area firms exhibiting during the showcase, which will run from Saturday, April 30 through Sunday, May 8. Design MMoCA encompasses a wide range of design installations including interior spaces, interactive design projects, wearable and conceptual textile designs and, of course, real and imagined products. The exhibit is free and open to the public. MMoCa is located at 227 State Street in Madison.

Inspired by Ed Ruscha's "Cheese Mold Standard with Olive," our design team has created "Just Gas & More," the ultimate Wisconvenience store filled with products that will help you live the 'Sconnie dream with ease. Here a description of the Just Gas & More concept by graphic and information designer Zach Moe, who is leading our exhibit project:

"What happens when you combine Mid-Century Modern with cheese curds, brandy, and the frozen tundra? The answer is classic 1960s styles, seamlessly and evocatively integrated into products native and pertinent to America’s Dairyland, of course.

We longed for a space both familiar and slightly strange – a pattern simultaneously thriving and wonderfully broken. Harmonic chaos ensued, and the result is our vision for the inside of a 'standard' gas station that is germane to time and place, both uniquely Wisconsin and uniquely '60s.

It is the ultimate convenience of a place where the promise of technology and innovation meets the needs of a Wisconsin perhaps not too far gone."

Some of our team members will be hanging out at "Just Gas & More" during Gallery Night on Friday, May 6, starting at 6 p.m., to answer questions and perhaps even demonstrate some of the features of our various "Just Gas & More" product lines. We hope to see you there.
