Design Concepts doubles mechanical engineering capacity in San Francisco

Design Concepts, Inc., an award-winning innovation and product design consultancy headquartered in Madison, Wis., has added to the on-site capacity of its San Francisco office with the addition of mechanical engineers Cheryl Bauer and Sean Frick.

Bauer earned a Master’s degree in industrial design engineering from The Royal College of Art and a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Imperial College, both located in London. Most recently, she worked as an R&D engineer for ApniCure, Inc., a company focused on creating medical devices to treat sleep disorders including obstructive sleep apnea.

Frick has a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Most recently, he worked as a mechanical engineer at Farm Design, a product development firm serving medical, life sciences and consumer health companies.

Earlier this year, Design Concepts opened a design office in San Francisco to help serve its thriving client base on the West Coast. Bauer and Frick join a West Coast team including Stefanie Norvaisas, Managing Director; mechanical engineer Justen England, San Francisco Studio Lead; and mechanical engineer Cameron Brock.

“The addition of Cheryl and Sean doubles our mechanical engineering capacity at the San Francisco office and expands our already impressive mechanical engineering team to 17,” Norvaisas said. “With their medical device and design experience, they will help us to continue providing product design innovation that helps drive our clients’ business.”
