Design Concepts wins GOOD DESIGN Award for its work on Pelvalon's Eclipse System

Design Concepts adds to Madison and San Francisco offices



Design Concepts, Inc., has recenty added staff to both its Madison and San Francisco offices.

We have increased the on-site project management and design capacity of our San Francisco operations with the addition of Katie Broughton as a Senior Project Manager and Erik Eisermann as an Industrial Designer.

Broughton has a Master's degree from Stanford University and a Bachelor's degree from MIT in mechanical engineering design. Most recently, she worked as a project manager at LUNAR Design. Previously, she worked as a director of engineering and indsutrial design for Ecologic Brands and as a director of engineering for Wild Planet Toys and Entertainment. She has extensive experience in children's, sustainability and green product design.

Eisermann has a Bachelor's degree in industrial and product design from Bergische Universitat Wuppertal and a Bacherlor's of Arts from the University of Cincinatti. Most recently, he was an industrial designer for moreless, a product design studio. Before joining moreless, Eisermann interned with several design firms an companies such as EyeNetra, Boeing and B. Braun Medical.

In Madison, we have added graphic design, client management, mechanical engineering and prototyping capacity.

Graphic and Information Designer Zach Moe moved back to Wisconsin from the Los Angeles area, where he has designed everything from guidebooks and photovoltaics to outerwear for companies such as Fixe Hardware, Pavement Ends Press and 686 Technical Apparel. He was also a high school shop teacher at Bishop Union High School in Bishop, CA. He has a Bachelor's degree in technology and industrial arts teaching education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and degree in prepress/desktop publishing, graphic design and digital imaging design from Fox Valley Technical College.

Edgar Hernandez joins us as a Strategic Account Manager in our Business Development team. Hernandez has worked in several innovation, business development and market research roles for American Family Insurance, leading initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and evaluate Internet of Things (IoT) technology and “big data” opportunities. He also served as an IoT Ventures Accelerator Mentor for Microsoft. Prior to joining American Family Insurance, Hernandez founded Avanza Consulting, where he provided market segmentation research for the credit union industry and launched an e-learning concept for a software company. He holds an MBA from University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a graduate of the Professional Certificate Program, Strategic Decision and Risk Management, of Stanford University. He also holds a BBA in finance from Iowa State University.


Todd Brunner joins the Mechanical Engineering team from his most recent position as a design engineer with Humanscale, an ergonomic office furniture company based in New York. He also held engineering positions at Pensa, GZA Geo/Environmental and Quad/Tech, Inc. He has a Master's degree in industrial design from the Pratt Institute and a Bachelor's degree in engineering from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

This week, our Prototype Development team is welcomed Evan Bunke as a prototype specialist. Bunke has worked as a machinist at Gammex, Inc., and is a graduate of the Machine Tool Program of Madison College. He is volunteer mentor and safety office for BadgerBOTS Robotic Corporation, a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring and educating elementary and high school students in STEM and other fields through competitive robotics.
