Service Designers at Design Concepts are passionate about experiences and are curious about researching, developing and communicating ideas. Our Service Designers flex from being strategic to tactical and from attention to the big picture to attention to detail. They are gifted storytellers and connectors across physical and digital experiences. They are an integral part of the design team and have a big impact on the work we do.

As a Service Designer, you will work closely with other design strategists, industrial designers, UX designers and engineers to identify opportunities for positive change, advocate for the needs of our clients and their customers, support work across the innovation spectrum from envision to realize, and help deliver and communicate the benefit of human-centered solutions.

We are looking for team members who have led design projects that demonstrate strategic, conceptual and creative thinking - with tangible outcomes to show. If you have a strong user-centered approach to design and problem solving, are able to lead a room full of people while also being thoughtful one-on-one, and are biased toward making something real versus just talking about it, we’d love to work with you.

Experience 

5+ years of experience with user experience, service design, design thinking, design research, business design and/or customer experience

MA or MS degree in Design, Design Strategy, Innovation Strategy, Service Design, Design Planning, Social Sciences, Business or a related field a plus

Be prepared to share portfolio and examples that span a variety of industries and design challenges.  Please be prepared to discuss your experience with the following:

  • Guiding the design process from framing an opportunity, to design recommendations, to go-to-market strategy and communications
  • Prototyping and testing new service concepts
  • Communicating visually
  • Turning business, customer and competitive insights into breakthrough new ventures, products, experiences and brands
  • Showing a mastery of secondary research sources (cultural, economic, technological, visual, etc.)
  • Creating a point of view for where a brand, product or service should go and why
  • Negotiating with clients and setting expectations against real world limitations

Software/Tools Proficient in core Adobe creative products (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), video and animation software
