Design Double Take: Germany

April 08, 2012

Craig Conner, director of human factors and principal, and Jeff Staszak, industrial designer, continued their research moving from Texas to Germany.

Jeff and Craig did a double take over the fascinating architecture of Leipzig and Aachen, Germany. The area displays a clash of cultures between the old and the new as both cities embrace the traditional and the unexpected in architecture. From a contemporary train station to a "story book" residence, Leipzig marries centuries of architectural styles. In Aachen, the bold, dynamic architecture of Aachen University Hospital showcases the building not only as a state-of-the-art medical facility but a work of contemporary art.

In Leipzig:

In Aachen - the helipad of the Unversity Hospital and the exterior & interior of the building with dramatic shapes, colors, lights and exposed pipes and ductwork.

The area displays a clash of cultures between the old and the new.

A successful trip!
