DCI hosts November PDMA meeting.
Design Concepts, Inc. hosts the Wisconsin Chapter of the Product Development and Management Association's (PDMA) meeting, November 8, 2006. As sponsor of the event, Design Concepts welcomes PDMA guests and members for an evening reception, tour of Design Concepts, and the PDMA meeting presentation. The evening is an opportunity for product development professionals to talk about the challenge of meeting expectations for innovation.

Defining successful innovation and assessing how much risk is too much risk are key challenges to every project's success. To help sort out the issue, Brianna Sylver, consultant and adjunct faculty professor at the Institute of Design, Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, presents the key concepts of her BusinessWeek online article, What Does Innovation Really Mean?

Sylver will lead a roundtable discussion among participants and suggest strategies for assessing "innovation tolerance" - assessing how much risk is right for your company or your client. The meeting will address the challenges of product developers managing projects in-house or consultants and contractors managing outsourced projects. There will be time for the group to share their first-hand experiences in negotiating and managing the challenges of innovation. Sylver will share insights into aligning goals and building consensus for innovation success.

Brianna Sylver, founder of Sylver Consulting, assists organizations in finding opportunity sweet spots between customer's needs, business objectives and innovation capabilities. She is an adjunct faculty professor at the Institute of Design, Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago teaching courses in communication design and human factors.
