University of Wisconsin-Stout Student of Industrial Design Awarded Scholarship in Honor of Design Concepts Founder David Wendt.
At the Stout University Foundation Scholarship Reception, September 13, 2006, the David W. Wendt Endowed Scholarship was awarded to industrial design student Thomas Hynes. The Wendt Scholarship is awarded annually in a competitive process to an outstanding student enrolled in the industrial design program.

First awarded in 1997, the scholarship honors the memory of Design Concepts founder, David Wendt and celebrates the new design talent coming out of the University of Wisconsin-Stout design program.

Wendt graduated from UW-Stout in 1955 and 1959. He continued his association to the Univeristy working with the Stout Alumni Association and serving as president of the 40-member Stout University Foundation Board. Wendt taught mechanical engineering at UW-Madison and worked with several engineering firms. He founded Design Concepts in 1970.

The scholarship awards reception was held at the Memorial Student Center Hall and attended by Geri Grogan-Wendt and Design Concepts staff member Oliver Julien.
