
Stefanie Norvaisas, Design Concepts’ director of strategy and research, joined colleagues for a panel discussion of design strategies that give businesses a competitive edge at the Product Development and Management Association’s (PDMA) 33rd Annual International Conference, November 4, 2009 in Anaheim, California.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Southwest Wisconsin Chapter hosted a 10-20-20 Presentation Night on November 3, 2009, featuring ten of the areas best designers, including Nick Reback, industrial designer at Design Concepts, to take the stage.

On November 3, 2009, Maddie’s Miracle, Inc. presented a $9,500 donation to the American Family Children’s Hospital. The donation honors the memory of Madeline Rose Hunter, daughter of Design Concepts’ director of information services Mark Hunter and his wife Robin.

On October 22, 2009, The Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum presented the 2009 People’s Design Award to the Trek Lime bicycle. The award was presented at the 10th annual National Design Awards ceremony in New York. The award was accepted by Hans Eckholm, Trek senior industrial designer.
Dave Franchino, president and principal of Design Concepts, and Ken Martin, president and CEO of Sadra Medical, presented “Leveraging Innovation Partnerships in Emerging Medical Device Development.” On July 28th, 2009, Martin and Franchino spoke to the membership of LifeScience Alley, a Minneapolis-based trade association with a membership of companies involved in all aspects of life scienes.
